If you are interested in supporting the Windeward Bound Trust, there are many different ways to do this!
The Windeward Bound Trust has been a Registered Charity with the Australian Tax Office (ATO) and Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) since 1999. Our programs are made possible in part by the ongoing support of individual donors and corporate sponsors.
The Windeward Bound Foundation Ltd is a Registered Charity with Deductible Gift Recipient Class 1 that helps support the work of Windeward Bound Trust. Any donation over $2 is tax deductible.
Contributions through donations and sponsorship have, for over 20 years enabled thousands of sail trainees across Australia to experience the unique, life changing adventure that a voyage on the STV Windeward Bound Provides.
From time to time the Windeward Bound Foundation runs special fundraising campaigns - but general donations are welcome at any time.
Mistrall II Restoration Fund
If you’re interested in contributing to maintenance and restoration of the iconic Mistral II, then your donation will go towards the restoration of the Mistral II and assist in seeing her reach her full potential again as a sea-going vessel.
Our hope is to have Mistral mobile enough to greet the Sydney to Hobart fleet for the 75th anniversary of the race in 2020 and to celebrate her own 100th birthday in 2022.
Sponsor a Scholarship
The Trust provides scholarships for mariner training and accreditation through Seafood Training Tasmania and the Australian Maritime College, for which all of our voluntary crew are eligible to apply. Scholarships vary in amount from a few hundred to several thousand dollars, and normally are distributed to several individuals each year. Since 1999, Windeward Bound has supported the training and certification of over 80 voluntary crew, and has produced 32 Masters and Coxswains.
